In my role as an occupational therapy practitioner, I’m on a constant quest to make life more functional and easier. I’ve worked with both older adults (In Rehabilitation Center, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Long Term Care) and children with disabilities (In Schools and In Home), providing them with solutions, equipment and home modifications so they can perform their everyday tasks.
In 2020, like everyone, my job as an occupational therapy practitioner, my environment and how I did everything changed.
I decided to focus on the things I could control, my living environment. I began to appreciate organizing, removing/recycling and making spaces purposeful again. During this time, my grandmother was recovering from a hip and elbow fracture. I provided therapy interventions and utilized my background in occupational therapy to adapt my family's home for her recovery and safety. Having a therapeutic lense paired with organization allows us to understand a client's physical ailments (if they have any), improve function and promote safety.
Functional Living seeks to creatively organize and adapt your space based on you and your families needs.
